The silence almost
absolute, but for the quiet breeze
It flows into my room, riding waves from hidden seas
The only other sound, that of the groaning trees
And the dancing leaves upon them, stirring with the breeze
The only light is moonlight, and the floodlight down the street
Through the window it shines in, but in darkness finds defeat
In peace I hear the silence, and hide from the moonlight
The glow still touches me, but not so much tonight
I fall into myself, away from all these things
But all the while, I feel the breeze and hear it as it sings
Flowing through my dreams it brings along the rain
Which carries its own music, joining in refrain
Rainbows in the moonlight bear witness to a dream
And bubbles drift the waves of air, fashioned in a stream
Quickly flowing water carries twigs and fallen leaves
Careless in its journey, from side to side it weaves
The trees reach to the sky, and like ancient solemn kings
In wisdom guard all houseguests, those with and without wings
Adding laughter to the breeze, with origins unknown
New leaves giggling like a child, while old branches creak and moan
In the midst of all these things, I float along with ease
Basking in the moonlight, and the rain and wise old trees
And rainbows in the moonlight, laughing leaves and bubbling streams
All fill me with a peace found only in the world of dreams
But I feel the real world calling me, how long can I resist
The pull back to the place where moonlight rainbows don’t exist
Oh sure, the moon may reflect light, and the sky, with colors, glow
But nothing so magically bright as in dreams, a moonlight rainbow
