As if we could go
unseen
To the world, in darkness glean
The dreams of man collected here
Hidden in shadows out of fear
Of some uncertain enemy
We conceal our future’s fantasy
That others may not know them too
In our selfish lust to be untrue
A price is paid, exacted cost
From within us something else is lost
In holding back our minds release
Others see us, missing a piece
Of who we are and so to them
We become a wholly different man
A part of us, our hopes define
Some small piece of inner mind
Without glad musings of the heart
The dusty shell could tear apart
To pieces, and with them others see
Things we are not able to be
And so fear of what cannot be obtained
Reaps loneliness and love abstained
In the self-made shelter we burn alive
The very hopes for which we strive
Become what now will bring us down
Unless gleaned dreams can still be found |
